YWCA’s mission is eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all
and we are switching our 11th Annual Race Against Racism to a virtual event! The funds raised from this event will support YWCA’s racial justice, women’s empowerment, and social equality programs. The event will also make it possible for YWCA to continue vital community conversations and dialogues, provide critical trainings to the community and our team members, and more!
Each registration option includes a t-shirt and at least one other item. Masks and bandanas are available for additional purchase. Pick a registration option, fill out the information, and you’ll receive your items. You can then walk, run, bike, climb, walk-jog, or whatever works for you on your own, with your family, or a socially distant group! Post your photos using #ywcaraceagainstracism and support YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism.
Traditionally, the Race Against Racism has been a 1 mile walk and 5k/10k race, but if you want to run 10 miles, 2 miles, jog around the block, etc., we will be proud to have your participation!
This year’s Race Against Racism will take place from August 3rd – August 28th.
- August 3rd will mark a somber day in El Paso’s history as we remember those lost in a racially motivated shooting by a white supremacist
- August 18th marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment when (some) women received the right to vote
- August 28th marks the 57th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech” and March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom
We’ll host a no-contact packet pick up on July 25th and 26th. If you can’t attend the packet pick up, no worries! We’ll ship your registration goodies to you!
