YWCA Cares Program Job Openings

YWCA strives to support children and families by providing vital childcare services during COVID-19. We are currently hiring enthusiastic and caring team members to assist in educating and providing in-person care for children ages 0-12.

STEM Tutor
Pay Rate: Hourly $10

El Paso After school Programs
12.5hrs. hours vary (20 positions)
20 hrs   hours vary (7 positions)

Under direct supervision, provides tutoring and mathematical enhancement activities in selected after school sites and summer camps.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: to perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance in the workplace is an essential function of this position.

1) Regular attendance at Employer’s place of business and/or during particular hours, as assigned, is an essential function of this position. Employee must comply with and follow YWCA’s attendance policy at all times, unless a reasonable accommodation is requested and granted, as required by law.
2) Plans, directs and supervises tutoring activities for children ranging from ages 5-12 years.
3) Collaborate with the host schools to develop a plan of success and measure outcomes.
4) Provide monthly reports to Administrator on:
a. Number of children participating in tutoring program each day
b. Description of educational enhancement activities offered during the month
c. Progression of each student
d. Monthly schedule of the tutoring program for each site
e. Program successes and challenges
5) Picks up and inventories supplies and equipment; makes requests for replacements; uses proper care in their use and storage.
6) Provides tutoring and implements math curriculum for after school children at assigned locations.
7) Complies with Texas Department of Family and Protective (TDFPS) minimum standards for childcare at all times.
8) Monitors, detects and reports abuse and neglect according to Texas Family Code and TDFPS minimum standards.
9) Prepares reports of any and all incidents to supervisor and Safety Coordinator in accordance with policies and procedures.
10) Communicates regularly with supervisor during After School Program.

EDUCATION
Currently enrolled in Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program. Mathematics background preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
1) Must be at least 18 years of age.
2) Must meet the requirements relating to Background Checks outlined by TDFPS.
3) Complete a notarized Licensing Affidavit for Applicants for Employment form.
4) Complete orientation to operation as specified in TDFPS Minimum Standards.
5) Must have an interest in children.
6) Must be able to motivate, engage and inspire children while remaining sensitive to their needs and capabilities.
7) Ability to be creative and resourceful required.

Activity Leader

Under direct supervision, provides supervised after school and summer activities at a school location and YWCA program locations for children five (5) years of age and older.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: to perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance in the workplace is an essential function of this position.

1) Regular attendance at Employer’s place of business and/or during particular hours, as assigned, is an essential function of this position. Employee must comply with and follow YWCA’s attendance policy at all times, unless a reasonable accommodation is requested and granted, as required by law.
2) Plans, directs and supervises work activities of one or more staff members and/or volunteers.
3) Provides appropriate guidance, care and security within a nurturing environment to ensure safety, physical care and emotional well being of the children.
4) Provides a variety of supervised activities to young children, including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, dramatics, story hours, indoor and outdoor games, creative movement and free play.
5) Supervises children while swimming, in the gym or on field trips.
6) Plans and implements daily curriculum and lesson plans for assigned groups at worksite, including field trips and special program activities within approved budget structure.
7) Keeps accurate daily attendance and other required records.
8) Picks up snacks from designated sites or shops in accordance with established guidelines; follows proper storage and handling of snacks and distributes proportionally to children.
9) Pick-ups and inventories supplies and equipment; makes requests for replacements; uses proper care in their use and storage.
10) Acts as liaison between school worksite and YWCA.
11) Complies with Texas Department of Family and Protective (TDFPS) minimum standards for childcare at all times.
12) Monitors, detects and reports abuse and neglect according to Texas Family Code and TDFPS minimum standards.
13) Prepares reports of any and all incidents to supervisor and Safety Coordinator in accordance with policies and procedures.
14) Receipts all fees as received, prepares reports and makes deposits as required.
15) Performs duties of assigned staff or assigned site as needed.
16) Communicates daily with supervisor during Summer Program to discuss progress, problems and concerns. Communicates regularly with supervisor during After School Program.
17) Attends training and meetings as required, including participation annually in 20 hours of training per TDFPS minimum standards.
18) Interprets YWCA purpose, imperative and mission to staff and public.
19) Follows all YWCA policies and procedures, including safety procedures, at all times.
20) Responsible for all equipment, supplies, documents and materials related to job.
21) Communicates all problems and questions to supervisor.
22) Complies with all federal, state, and local regulations.
23) Communicates with all levels of staff and public as appropriate to the job.

EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE
At least one year of experience in a licensed operation or similar experience as specified in the Minimum Standards for School Age and before or After School Programs. Seventy (70) clock hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership, or management leadership as specified in the Minimum Standards for School Age and before or After School Programs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Provides supervised homework help, activity, enrichment and recreation for children five (5) years of age and older.

EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE
Three (3+) months experience working with children in recognized setting; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or training providing required knowledge, skills, abilities.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
1) Must have interest in children and be able to motivate children while remaining sensitive to their needs and capabilities.
2) Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
3) Access to vehicle with required liability insurance and valid driver’s license.
4) Must have and maintain current certifications for CPR, first aid and food handling.

Mabee Early Learning Academy

MaGuire Early Learning Academy
20 hrs. Mon-Fri (1 position)

Under direct supervision, provides a variety early learning classroom teaching and learning activities at assigned site for children from birth to 12 years old. Coordinates work of Assistant Teachers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: to perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance in the workplace is an essential function of this position.

4. Supervises classroom to comply with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) minimum standards and YWCA standards, policies and procedures.
5. Ensures a safe, healthy learning environment. Performs daily health checks of children, as well as daily safety checks of indoor and outdoor environments.
6. Ensures the healthy development of children through appropriate supervision of meals, snacks and rest periods.
7. Provides positive guidance through appropriate discipline and classroom supervision techniques. Conducts self in professional manner at all times in all interactions.
8. Routinely documents observed development of each child.
9. Develops and maintains positive relationships with parents and participants through communication, conferences and by encouraging volunteerism and adult participation.
10. Maintains equipment and supplies required for appropriate curriculum and requests replacement as required.
11. Coordinates the classroom support activities of Teacher Assistants. Teaches and models appropriate classroom supervision for Teacher Assistants.
12. Conducts and attends meetings and training sessions as required, including annual participation in required hours of training per TDFPS minimum standards, or the annually required hours for accredited sites.
EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE
Six (6) months experience working with and around children in a care or educational setting; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required.

Under immediate supervision, assists in a classroom for children birth to 12 years old with a variety of routine record keeping and teaching activities, child health, safety and developmental tasks and compliance with all policies and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: to perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance in the workplace is an essential function of this position.
