Under general direction, leads the development and implementation of a new STEAM initiative, “MathExcite” with a primary focus on mathematics engagement for elementary age students, and math tutoring for elementary and adult basic education participants. Works with YWCA After School Program leaders and elementary educators to track student performance in math and with the administrator of school age programs to align math initiatives across multiple sites. Works with a math/STEAM advisory group to identify best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in a STEAM related field required.
Two years of experience in a math supportive role (e.g. tutoring, classroom instruction with youth and experience with older learners helpful).
Demonstrated excellence in math performance. Demonstrates a passion for STEAM and ability to inspire youth to excel. Must be well organized and be able to handle multiple priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills necessary to work with persons in a non-judgmental manner. Must be proficient with personal computer operations and Microsoft Office. Must have access to vehicle and possess valid driver’s license and sufficient liability insurance.
