YWCA has hosted Walk a Mile in Her Shoes for more than 10 years. It is a key fundraiser to support our Sara McKnight Transitional Living Center where we serve women and children who have survived domestic violence. One thing that is different about Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is that it intentionally focuses on engaging men in raising awareness of and ending domestic violence. Which has led us to ask: Why do people so often consider domestic violence a “women’s” issue?
Men are also impacted by domestic violence and share much of the responsibility for ending it. In this Courageous Conversation, YWCA CEO, Dr. Sylvia Acosta, will speak with the founder of Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Frank Baird, and others who have been impacted by domestic violence.
Including:
Frank Baird, founder of Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
Johnathan Gutierrez, El Pasoan who has been impacted by YWCA’s programs
Sierra Ulibarri, YWCA TLC director
