JOB SUMMARY: 

Under general supervision, performs technical activities in the design and execution of artwork for agency advertising, publicity and public relations.

  1. Regular attendance at Employer’s place of business and/or during particular hours, as assigned, is an essential function of this position. Employee must comply with and follow YWCA’s attendance policy at all times, unless a reasonable accommodation is requested and granted, as required by law.
  2. Conceptualizes (independently or in collaboration with other agency staff or volunteers) and produces designs for agency newsletters, program brochures, posters, flyers, ballots, annual reports, manuals and miscellaneous advertising or public relations materials.
  3. Utilizes desktop publishing and scanning to create and prepare art with appropriate composition, layout and design consistent with national branding standards.
  4. Under supervision, performs administration of web site working on problems of simple to moderate complexity including, but not limited to: revising Web Pages, modifying appearance and setting of site, laying out content on web pages and serving as web administrator alongside the marketing manager.
  5. Designs and produces original artwork and visual materials for corporate underwriter packages and other media or graphic materials as needed for special events, programs and other agency functions.
  6. Ensures all administrators requests for products and materials are in compliance and produces program materials that meet national YWCA standards.
  7. Selects and coordinates services provided for agency including banners, posters, calendars, booklets or other materials that must be outsourced to independent vendors.
  8. Reviews and approves department artwork in various stages of development and first press runs for accuracy, initiating corrections when needed.
  9. Takes pictures/videos as requested.
  10. Writes and submits print orders, according to proper accounting procedures. Participates as support staff during YWCA special events (Walk a Mile, No Fixed Address, Women’s Luncheon)
  1. Interprets, role models, and enables the YWCA’s mission, hallmark programs, leadership core values, and racial justice core values to employees and the public.
  2. Follows all YWCA policies and procedures, including safety procedures, at all times
  3. All employees are responsible for maintaining a safe workplace environment. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to, reading and following the YWCA’s safety policies, safety programs, emergency preparedness, and general safety procedures.  Employees are also responsible for immediately reporting any safety violations of the facility, employees, participants and/or third parties, to their supervisor and the Safety Manager.
  4. Communicates with all levels of staff and public as appropriate to the job.
  5. Conducts and attends meetings and training sessions as required.
  6. Responsible for all equipment, supplies, documents and materials related to job.
  7. Communicates all problems and questions to supervisor.
  8. Complies with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  9. Assures proper storage of all records.
  10. May perform duties of assigned staff as needed; and performs other duties as required by supervisor.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in graphic art preferred or equivalent work experience in graphic art, design, desktop publishing or other related disciplines required.
  2. Two (2) years experience with emphasis on graphic art, design and visual communication required.
  3. Must be creative with a good sense of design.
  4. Must have experience developing and maintaining web pages or equivalent skills, background or experience required.
  5. Requires artistic talent, a strong color sense, an eye for detail, and a sense of balance and proportion.
  6. Must have advanced knowledge of desktop publishing, scanning, typography, mechanical art preparation and printing technology.
  7. Must have knowledge of Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premier Pro)
  8. and related graphics software needed.
  9. Must adhere to ethics and quality standards.
  10. Must be highly organizational, flexible, and able to handle multiple priorities within required time frames.
  11. Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work independently as needed.
  12. Must be able to work under pressure with interruptions.
  13. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  14. Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  15. Must have vehicle with required liability insurance and possess a valid driver’s license.
  16. Must be able to travel to various program locations to photograph or video tape events.
