YWCA Courageous Conversation: Listen to Indigenous Voices

November 17, 2021

6 pm

YWCA’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Indigenous communities have faced racism, violence, and neglect since the moment settlers first arrived in North America. They are often harmed by stereotypes and ambivalence but their voices, stories, issues, causes, and people matter and must be heard.

Join our virtual panel discussion about current issues, damaging stereotypes, and the impact on individual people and communities.

Panel:
Moderator: Dr. Sylvia Acosta, CEO of YWCA El Paso del Norte Region

Dr. Michelle Hale, Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies at Arizona State University

Hankie P. Ortiz, Associate Deputy Director-Bureau Operated Schools, US Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Education

Toni Stanger-McLaughlin, JD, CEO of Native American Agriculture Fund
