COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

SUMMARY
Under direct supervision of Special Assistant to the CEO for Social Equity and Communications, performs functions to provide quality and effective advertising, marketing and promotional activities to create positive public awareness of the YWCA’s mission, services and programs. Assists with planning and managing external and internal events of all sizes.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in public relations, advertising and/or journalism required.

EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years related experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.  Photography and/or videography experience preferred.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.   Must have thorough knowledge of principles of effective communications and mass media, publicity, advertising, community relations, social service and government relations as they relate to nonprofit organizations.  Ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups and the ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information and recommend courses of action to be taken.   Must be innovative, flexible and able to handle multiple priorities. Knowledge of graphic design.  Excellent interpersonal skills required, with ability to interact at all levels and ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relations with staff and public. Must be able to work independently and autonomously. Must be able to make sound judgments, have excellent decision making skills. Must have access to vehicle and possess valid driver’s license and sufficient liability insurance.
