Teen Leadership Coordinator
Pay Rate: Hourly $12

Northeast El Paso Programs
25hrs. Mon –Fri, occasional evening and weekends 8am-5pm

Under general management supervision, plans, organizes and implements leadership, educational, civic, career planning, racial justice, service learning and other social programs for teenage youth. This is done with the youth at their school site or community site through in class programming or after school programming. Acts as a YWCA liaison to assigned schools and organizations. This position is grant funded. Continuation of position is contingent upon the availability of grant funds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: to perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance in the workplace is an essential function of this position.

1. Regular attendance at Employer’s place of business and/or during particular hours, as assigned, is an essential function of this position. Employee must comply with and follow YWCA’s attendance policy at all times, unless a reasonable accommodation is requested and granted, as required by law.
2. In coordination with director, plans, organizes and implements teen programs, training, events and activities, including the coordination of meeting times, topics, locations and facilities.
3. Develops and/or recommends program curriculum, obtains approval of new curriculum, trains staff in conducting curriculum (if applicable), and incorporates new curriculum into the Teen Leadership Curriculum binder.
4. In coordination with director, prepares and monitors budget and reviews billings and expenditures. Reviews and reports on actual performance compared to budget monthly and recommends necessary action.
5. Coordinates partnerships with schools, other agencies and parents to establish YW Teen groups and activities. Recruits new schools, organizations, and participants to programs.
6. Promotes Teen Leadership initiatives in schools and to other community organizations. Informs the public and potential participants of program activities by means of news media via the Marketing Department, contacts, speaking engagements, and dissemination of posters and fliers.
7. Demonstrates YWCA core values within schools, with contractors, funders, collaborating agencies and other organizations and coordinate Teen Leadership activities
8. Maintains statistics and records regarding activities, expenses, grants, donations and participants.
9. In coordination with the director, manages grants, reporting and outcome reports for compliance as requested by director and/or contracts.
10. Establishes and meets annual objectives and submits periodic reports as requested.
11. Responsible for the safety, physical care and emotional well being of participants and staff.
12. Resolves conflicts and complaints from participant, parents, staff or collaborative, regarding program activities or department policy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, business, public administration or other related field required.
2. Two (2) or more years experience working with underserved youth programs required, with reference from experience
3. Must enjoy working with youth in school and community settings.
4. Works well with a team, and independently.
5. This position requires frequent reading, writing, and research skills with quick results.
6. Applicant must be comfortable in a school setting with youth ranging 9-18 years of age.
7. Must have skills using platforms such as Zoom, Remind or other messaging services, and, or WebEx.
8. Must have good PowerPoint skills as presentations are often required.
9. Must be comfortable with public speaking as coordinators provide after school and in class presentations to eligible youth.
10. Must be proficient with Excel in order to maintain accurate records.
11. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word.
12. Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines with extended or short turnaround.
13. Must complete 18 hours required training according to requirements of contracting agency and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
14. Ability to work well with youth and participate in the youth activities, required.
15. Must maintain professional appearance and be able to conduct presentations to the public.
16. Proficient phone, email, written and verbal communication skills required, with ability to work well with school sponsors and grantors.
17. Must be highly motivated, creative, articulate, patient, and outgoing.
18. To provide engaging programming, must have strong organizational and communication skills with adolescents required.
19. Ability to resolve conflicts and enforce regulations tactfully and impartially.
20. Must be able to make ethical and sound judgments following best practices as needed.
21. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and outdoors in non-traditional settings.
22. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, peers, and the public needed.
23. Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred.
24. Must have access to vehicle with valid driver’s license and sufficient vehicle liability insurance to drive to service sites as is required.
