TWO SHOULD KNOW
The YWCA Paso del Norte Region serves as the backbone organization for the Two Should Know initiative of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation. The overarching goal of Two Should Know is to effect long-term improvements in sexual health across the lifespan and reduce negative health outcomes in the Paso del Norte Region. Two Should Know is based on a positive sexuality approach.
The initiative collaborates with six grantees from West Texas, Southern New Mexico, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Through the work and efforts from the grantees, Two Should Know is working towards reductions in unintended teen pregnancies, decreasing sexually transmitted infections, promoting healthy relationships, increasing sexuality education to regional youth, and providing sexuality education training for professionals.
Two Should Know is also working with regional school districts to guide them toward adopting a sexual health policy that will identify sexual health as a priority and address the allocation of resources necessary to implement evidence based, age and culturally appropriate comprehensive sexual health education.
The Two Should Know website (TwoShouldKnow.org) offers resources for teens, parents, and educators regarding healthy sexuality and healthy relationships, as well as tips on conversation starters for teens and parents.
The Two Should Know office is located in the YWCA Joyce Jaynes Branch, 1600 Brown Street, and program staff may be reached at 915-533-7475 ext. 266.
