Independence House supports women who are homeless due to family violence. Independence House is a mixed use facility consisting of eight apartments. Residents of Independence House are charged program fees not exceeding 30% of their monthly income.
Among homeless women and children nationwide, 50% are fleeing family violence. Female headed households are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population nationally and these statistics are reflected in our community. Independence House offers resources and skills needed to leave homelessness and move to unsubsidized permanent housing and self sufficiency. Through individual case management, the program promotes the building of healthy relationships at home, school, work and community for women and children.
