Dorothy Hunt’s dedication to her community spans decades, including her charitable work with the El Paso Symphony, the El Paso Museum of Art, and the El Paso Historical Society. Both Dorothy and her husband Jack received UTEP’s Gold Nugget Award, which recognizes graduates who have made a significant impact in their communities. In 1994, the Hunt Family Foundation established the Jack and Dorothy Hunt Endowment for Entrepreneurship, which established a professorship in the UTEP College of Business.

Mrs. Hunt’s love for the YWCA has been life long, and over the years she has helped raise funds and further the mission of the YWCA. In 2010, the lower valley branch, which is just down the street from the Hunt’s first home in El Paso, was named after Dorothy to honor her service to the YWCA and to the El Paso community.
