Throughout our history, the YWCA has been a pioneer in race relations and the empowerment of women. In 1970, the YWCA National Convention adopted the One Imperative: “To thrust our collective power towards the elimination of racism, wherever it exists, and by any means necessary.” It was a controversial and bold move at the time, but that decision formed the foundation of the YWCA we know today.
The YWCA’s Race Against Racism is a wonderful opportunity for businesses and individuals seeking relevant and meaningful community partnerships. Annually, runners and walkers gather in an effort to “stomp” out racism in our community. This race is designed to promote advocacy and appreciation of diversity, while highlighting the wide range of programs offered at the YWCA. We invite you to join us, as we run for one race: The Human Race.
